Atlassian is retiring its Data Center products: since 30 March 2026 there are no new Data Center subscriptions for new customers, from 30 March 2028 no expansions either, and on 28 March 2029 Jira, Jira Service Management and Confluence Data Center become read-only.
This page gives you the dates, your options and a checklist – so you don’t have to decide under time pressure.
According to Atlassian, the end of life covers Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Crowd Data Center and the related Marketplace apps. Bitbucket and Bamboo Data Center are exempt.
01
Read-only from 2029
After 28 March 2029, Data Center subscriptions expire and the products become read-only. Extensions beyond that are available by exception only.
02
Apps expire too
Data Center apps from the Marketplace end as well. Features you rely on through apps have to be re-assessed for every target platform.
03
Time to decide
A switch with data migration, permissions and training needs lead time. The earlier you plan, the more options you keep.
Your options
Three ways forward after Data Center.
The right path depends on where your data may live, which apps you need and how much operation you want to own.
01
Move to Atlassian Cloud
The path Atlassian intends.
Operated by Atlassian
Data in the Atlassian Cloud
Apps must be available as cloud versions
02
Use Data Center until the end
Buys time, but only postpones the problem.
No expansions from 30 March 2028
Read-only from 28 March 2029
Extensions by exception only
03
Switch to an alternative like XISUITE
Self-hosted or SaaS – with built-in migration.
SaaS, single-tenant or on-premise
Jira and Confluence data via the migration tool
Tasks, wiki, assets and planning in one system
Checklist for the switch
Take stock: projects, spaces, users, groups and data volumes
List the Marketplace apps you use and what they do
Clarify requirements: hosting, data protection, SSO/SCIM, integrations
Test the target system in a proof of concept with real data
Plan the migration in waves: pilot project, then area by area
Check workflows, permissions and automations after migrating
Switching with XISUITE
From Data Center to XISUITE – inside the application.
The migration tool moves Jira projects and Confluence spaces straight into XISUITE. And if you want to keep self-hosting, run XISUITE on-premise.

End of life: Jira and Confluence Data Center become read-only
Start with an analysis of your system environment.

02Projects, spaces, users and data volumes
03Marketplace apps, integrations and automations in use
04Requirements for hosting, data protection, SSO and permissions
The result
A clear recommendation on the right path to XISUITE – the operating model, migration approach and next steps.
Deployment
Run it where control belongs.
XISUITE adapts to the organization’s operating model rather than forcing infrastructure into a single answer.
Multi-tenant SaaS
Use XISUITE as a managed cloud workspace for multiple organizations and teams.
Single-tenant
Run a dedicated tenant context when organizational boundaries call for a separated environment.
On-premise
Operate XISUITE on your own infrastructure when control of the deployment is the priority.
